Dodo Alive coordinates a unique interdisciplinary research team that aims to reconstruct the world of the dodo and the reasons of its demise. Also it aims to assess how we can conserve the remaining fragile island nature.

Oprichting Stichting Dodo Alive
Na jaren van onderzoek en goede samenwerking met Mauritius is het Dodo Research Programme gevraagd om een museum op te richten in Mauritius die de leefwereld van de dodo in kaart brengt. Om dit in goede banen te leiden is er een stichting opgericht onder de naam: Dodo Alive.

De Stichting is opgericht op 12-12-2011, en bestaat momenteel uit de volgende leden:

Daarnaast doet het Dodo Research Programme jaarlijks veldwerk op Mauritius. In 2011 bestond het team uit de volgende personen:

Julian Hume,
Scientist in Paleontology, works for the Natural History Museum in Londen.
Julian is an expert artist who paints extinct birds.
Dr John de Vos, scientist in Paleontology, works at Naturalis.
Perry de Louw is a geohydrologist and works at Deltares.
René Floore, technical engineer of the Dodo Research Programme.
Prof. Leon Claessens at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, USA, works as a guest of Naturalis and researches the anatomy of the dodo.
Jennifer Leavitt, student at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, USA.
Andrew Biedlingmaier, student at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, USA.
Laura van der Sluis, student at the Free University of Amsterdam (VU), works on the research of biochemical situation of the bones.
